They say, “if you want to be rich, build roads”.

In our line work, every once in awhile, you get the opportunity to work on a project that redefines what is possible in a community, and a country. Near the end of the Rugari-Bukima road, tourists & rangers alike enter the Virunga National Park to visit the gorillas in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The brutal old road used to require a high clearance 4x4 to make the 2.5 hour drive. Now, bikers, buses and small passenger cars make the 30 minute trip with ease. The economics (and comfort) in the region is forever changed.
