Delivering a Reliable and Sustainable Water Supply

Rwanda is doing its best to improve agricultural productivity and yields across the country. In partnering with Netafim, a premier global irrigation developer, the Gabiro Agribusiness Hub was born.

What was the impact?

The system pumps water from the Akagera River into a million liter reservoir. In 2020, Remote completed bulk earthworks for the reservoir in preparation for HDPE lining and construction of a canal to distribute the stored water. The project is expected to decrease water usage by 40 percent. Several commercial farming companies signed on to invest RWF53 Billion within the irrigated 5,600 hectares soon after project completion.
