The First AAC Factory in sub-Saharan Africa
A fully automated, state-of-the-art factory built to European standards? Not possible said the naysayers. So we built it in record time and the factory inspector called it “incredible” at completion. The Autoclaved Aerated Concrete factory (cellular or lightweight concrete) has a production capacity of 180,000m3 per year, five autoclaves, a steam boiler, and an on-site materials testing laboratory. Remote self-performed the total build.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
We knew we needed to mind the inputs: power, water, and fuel. This meant designing and implementing energy-efficient software and systems that would maximize and/or reuse the resources available to us while minimizing disruptions in the factory. This meant condensation and slurry recycling systems, energy-efficient motors and drives, and the highest quality German equipment. Invest now to save later.
Modern Factories Fit in Containers
We shipped the factory in 100 containers full of thousands of pieces to Rwanda, and rebuilt it within 12 months. The first trial run of AAC blocks in sub-Saharan Africa came out of the autoclaves in November 2019.
